Inspirational People: Steve Jobs

Having grown up in the San Francisco’ Bay Area, Apple/Steve Jobs were not a new or unfamiliar awareness from my childhood years.  The Silicon Valley’s remarkable brain power and innovation have always been a known presence.  I can remember when the first personal computer was launched–the glowing apple emblem.  Some of my friends had one.  There were no cell phones, miniature sound devices, laptops, iTunes, etc.   Of course, now I have an iPhone, a Macbook Pro, an iShuffle, iTunes, and I make iMovies.  How could life go one without all of these amazing innovations?

A few months ago,  one of my good friends had sent me Steve Jobs’s commencement speech as an example of an innovative and inspiring person.  It was fascinating to get a glimpse into the thinking and history of this genius.  I saved the video with the idea of using it on Selfseeds at some point as an example of inspiration and vision.

The news of his passing was shocking.  Pancreatic cancer is a very unforgiving form of cancer, but he had beaten the odds and had come back as a force to be reckoned with.  Not to mention how young he was and with a family.  There was yet so much untapped brilliance.

Reading the international outpouring of condolences, memories, and gratitude has even been a more amazing glimpse of what a revolutionary genius he truly was. When you look back on history and wonder what it was like to live within the time frame of certain outstanding individuals, Steve Jobs provided that under current conditions–“connecting the dots” in the world.
