Day 8

A picture of an image with the word " sprout ".

I took a day off from the Insanity Program because of other commitments, but I still went to the gym.  I am noticing that the IP is even helping with my meditation position–an overall strengthening through an invigorating/coordinating process.  Just moving is useful, but I am looking at how it is enhancing the fitness program/activities that I already engage in.

One of the trouble areas I am constantly correcting is the place between the shoulder blades that continues up into the base of the neck.  The counter action of lengthening the neck, lowering the shoulders, and flattening the shoulder blades is an ongoing area that needs attention.  Rounding of the shoulders, dropping the head/neck forward, and disconnecting the place between the shoulder blades happens while I work on the laptop, look down, relax in general, etc.  It is a form of folding up and collapsing instead of keeping the human tube lengthened and interconnected.  While seeing a lot of people at the gym, I am not sure most humans are aware of this or even understand how to connect their inner being.

Back to the jumping exercises, in order to land softly and spring with coordination, I need to organize my head, neck, and back in motion.  The moment in flight and/or contact to the ground requires an engagement.  If I don’t, it is not a comfortable result.  Having experienced a neck injury, I can appreciate the fine line between useful challenges and not useful challenges.  It requires an ongoing dialogue with the self in form and possible modifications.
