How Is The No Jumping?

A picture of an image with the word " sprout ".

Taking the jumping out of the Insanity program is still giving me a workout–dripping sweat but not gasping for air is the difference.  The lack of jumping is actually giving me more time to be aware of my core and the relationship of my extremities to my core–dance exercises without leaving the ground.  Currently on week two.  I still love the structure of the program:  warm-up. stretching, work-out, and stretching.  You turn on the DVD and are motivated to keep going intensely/productively for 45 minutes or more.  Balance, coordination, rhythm, flexibility are all called into action, so it challenges the normal day-to-day actions and enhances range of motion.

As I explore other videos, I have had my old injuries flair up, so I need to be aware and see if my technique is off or if the exercises just don’t make sense for my health history.  I had just been thinking that my neck hasn’t been giving me any trouble for awhile when I tried a group of exercises that left my neck vulnerable and sure enough–it was triggered.  Stopping at the early stage or modifying allowed me to ‘keep moving,” but without getting into trouble.  Learning and knowing one’s challenge areas are important.  I like to check in, but I don’t try to muscle my way through the warning signs.
