Four Months No Gym Fitness Integration Challenge

Four months and no gym, so hiking, walking, bicycling, riding, and body weight exercises are the focus. Power walking is incredible for integrating the body, cardio, meditation, and proprioception. It is so easy to lose sight of something so simple!

A Great Day Sharing Selfseeds For The Equestrian in Carbonda...

 

“A big thank you to Strang Ranch in Carbondale, Colorado for providing a beautiful and welcoming site for Selfseeds for the Equestrian.”

Maree McAteer and Sue Eoff gave a one day clinic that included three sections: Selfseeds for the rider, Selfseeds on the ground with your horse, and Selfseeds while riding. The eleven selfseeds provide fundamental awareness tools for developing and improving every aspect of being with the horse, feeling, and timing whether dismounted or mounted. At lunch, Maree shared her experience of Ren Hurst’s fundamental principles of being in right action with one’s self and one’s horse. The weather was beautiful, the participants were enthusiastic about exploring a deeper part of the horse partnership, and joy was permeating the arena.

We are jumping up-and-down and cheerleading for the use of Selfseeds to easily and clearly take people on a bridge of an ever developing relationship with their horses and riding. We are looking forward to more opportunities to share Selfseeds for the Equestrian in either a one, two, or three day format.”

Selfseeds for Kids

It was so much fun sharing Selfseeds with kids. Their enthusiasm, honesty, and insightfulness was inspiring. They all gave the journals a thumbs up! The teachers were supportive and creative adding the seeds into classroom teaching opportunities. Looking forward to more classes starting in the fall.

Selfseeds for Elementary School Children–Grades Three ...

Test Trial started! Selfseeds for elementary school children has begun! Introducing two to three seeds a week with homework in the journal. Wow, the kids were already very informed about fitness and nutrition, but I see the challenge is in the application and discipline of the information. No different then the adults! What a privilege to start with the public school system. A big Thank You to the two teachers who have trusted me to step into their classrooms.

The fall will be the launch of Selfseeds as a foundational program at Two Bunch Palms.

Maree and I are looking for a site in Colorado to launch a Selfseeds for the Equestrian Retreat. Participants will bring their own horses and spend three days examining themselves, ground work with the horses, and riding.

One more month in the desert and then I am off to Colorado, India, Portugal, and Hungary for the summer.

Pacing The Day

Happy 2017 as the New Year!

Experimenting with when to exercise, when to meditate, when to stretch, and so on. Meditating before exercising is working well. In India, I was exercising before sitting, because I would sit for longer periods of time. Exercising before or after work is okay. Exercising before and after work is a bonus. Hydration is very important. Eating regularly keeps me fueled for a long day of activity. Partnering is included in my normal day of work. Awareness of weight distribution is a must for staying centered on the horses. Selfseeds are easily a daily practice.

Starting The Walk At 7, 200 ft. Elevation

Starting a hike at 7,200 ft elevation and immediately walking up immediately tests one’s fitness. The raw beauty makes one feel profoundly humble to be part of something much bigger then one’s self. I will put the total experience in the Selfseeds Personalize 5 category even though the hike was several hours.

Quick, Convenient Touchstone to Fitness

I was given two exercise devices (rowing and core toner) to experiment with at home. I added a few free weights and made a point to exercise once or twice a day for 5 minutes or more, in addition to my normal gym routine. It was easy to access, great as a supplement to watching television, uncomplicated to navigate, and the best part—it made a difference in my peace of mind and body tone.
